Getting a job in a recession
-- Admin

With share prices crashing and house prices dropping, the UK is entering a recession. Getting a job is never easy, but in a recession it gets even more difficult.

For students wanting to get a part-time job, its always best to make a personal contact. Looking in newspapers and the internet will get you so far, but approaching a potential employer and asking them directly is more effective. Many employers do not advertise all their positions and only people in the know get these posts, so become one of those people.

Extending a Student Visa
-- Admin

Student Visas may be extended in order for the applicant to continue studying, but the applicant must be able to provide evidence that they have made suitable progress in their studies, that they have regularly attended their course, and that the new course is at a higher level to that of the previous course.

Those students whose Student Visa is issued for longer than six months, may then engage in casual work for up to 20hrs per week (during term time), and up to 40hrs per week during college holidays. The permission to work is not intended in order to provide monies on which to subsist.

Crackdown on Foreign Student Visas & Bogus Colleges
-- Admin

Foreign students hoping to come to the UK to study will have to meet strict new criteria, the Government announced today. The Home Office has published proposals for much tighter rules for foreign students under the student tier of its new Points Based System. All colleges and universities that want to recruit foreign students will now need a licence to do so and will have to take greater responsibility for their international students, helping Government crack down on bogus colleges who abuse the system.

For the first time education providers face a ban on bringing over international students if they fail to follow strict new rules - including alerting the UK Border Agency (UKBA) if   . . . . . .

Tier 4 – UK Student Visa:
The fourth tier of the new points based UK immigration service focuses upon overseas students who wish to gain entry clearance to study in the UK. Tier 4 visas replace the UK student visa service and place more emphasis upon the responsibility of the educational body in question for the applicants they permit to study. The aim of this tier immigration service is to provide a more user-friendly, transparent route to studying in the UK.
With the exception of tier 1 visas, which directly replace the Highly Skilled Migrant Programme or HSMP, all tier visas for the new system will require a certificate of sponsorship from the relevant sponsor. In this case, the s  . . . . . .
